Hi there! As I've just wrapped up production of my semester-long project capping off my junior year, I've created a page for larger films that I'm particularly proud of as I develop into contributing to films with more of a narrative using techniques I've acquired the past couple of years. As I enter my final year at Central Michigan, I want to use this page to showcase some of my production processes as I work with a group of talented animators, creating our final senior film!
Completed: May 2024
This film had a semester-long production timeline, from concept to post-production. I worked with a team of 3 other animators, and we were tasked with creating an educational short about an endangered species. We decided to focus on the life cycle of the Great Lakes Sturgeon and accomplished this with both computer and stop-motion animation. Check out some of my production checkpoints below!
This is a style frame we composed using my background design and one of my team members' character designs. We've been using this as a reference to create the rest of our shots.
These are a few character designs one of my team members has been working on. I created this background in Photoshop as a preliminary texture reference to pair with the characters' textures.Â
Our sturgeon will be animated using stop motion, and we've been testing out puppet animations and key-out processes using Dragon Frame for our sturgeon's movements, and After Effects to compose him in his habitat.
This was our rough outline for our film, once we had decided on what the general narrative was going to be. It helped us figure out how many different characters and scenes we would need to create.
Once we had made our final decisions about character movements and backgrounds, this helped us determine the exact timing we needed for each scene. This also helped with background and stop-motion visualization.
